GREAT GAME OF LAKE ANIMALS
The Aula Verde of the
Naturalistic Oasis The Valley is situated in the Regional Park
of Trasimeno Lake, where the extraordinary cane thicket
extends so that it is possible to observe many types of
animals. Trasimeno Lake is one of the most important water
areas of Europe and part of the migratory route of hundreds of
birds: many stop to nidificate, others to winter, and others
still to stock up for the rest of their journey. Every season
of the year, therefore, allows for different types of
interesting bird watchings.
During this experience the children will take part in
workshops and creative activities working on bio-diversity and
in particular on that of the Trasimeno Lake birds.
Parents can visit the Oasis, take excursions and go bird
watching.

THE PERUGINO'S WORKSHOP
The experience foresees a visit of the more significant
masterpieces of the Perugino, the great master who brought
back a revival of the traditional religious subject with the
suggestive landscapes of the Trasimeno area as background. The
Adoration of the Magi (L'"Adorazione dei Magi"), (Oratory
of Santa Maria dei Bianchi -1504), was conceived as a big
cavalcade which fades away in the distance and is one of the
largest landscapes by Vannucci. The "Descent from the
Cross" (La Deposizione dalla Croce) (Church of Santa
Maria dei Servi - 1523) shows a style which is unhindered by
the restraints of drawing, where colour itself seems to create
shape. These are the masterpieces your children will find out
about, thanks to an expert guide and entertainer who will
involve them actively making sure they enjoy themselves with
games, theatrical activities and manual creativity. Should the
parents be interested, we offer a free visit of the town
museum itinerary.

THE EARTHEN-MADE
VILLAGEThe Association Panta
Rei is situated on the hills overlooking Lake Trasimeno and
has areas in which practical activities can take place (creation
of sun panels, wood work, distillation of officinal plants,
ect), as well as the right equipment to produce solar energy,
energy produced from wind and from biomass through a system of
fitodepuration. There is also an organic vegetable garden and
orchard. The children will be lead on a guided tour of the
centre with particular attention paid to the techniques used
to build with unbaked earth bricks and to the techniques used
to save energy and water. Then they will be invited into the
workshop of the mud bricks, where, after an initial analysis
of the earth itself and an explanation of all the operations
necessary, they will create a brick manually and finally
evaluate its possible usage, with considerations as how this
kind of brick is a fundamental material of bio- construction.
Parents can also take part in the tour of the Centre, the
workshop activities and stay for lunch.

ISLAND TREASURE HUNT
The second biggest island of the Trasimeno Lake, the Maggiore
Island, still maintains the beauty of a wild and
uncontaminated nature, as well as the enchanting silence of
the old hamlet roads. The life on the island from the very
first settlements is told in the Documentation Centre, which
is one of the stopping places of our adventurous didactic
itinerary based on the precious frescoes of the Umbrian and
Sienese school of the XIII and XIV centuries which decorate
the Church of Saint Michael, situated on the top of the hill.
The itinerary foresees a visit to the Lace Museum, in
which you can find both period and contemporary precious
artistic manufacts. The old fishermen hamlet and the woods on
the Maggiore Island will be the ideal set of our exciting
treasure hunt. Lead by expert entertainers the children will
have to face trials and challenge themselves by working in
creative workshops tied to the artisan traditions of the
island. The parents may visit the museum itinerary of the
island free of charge.

LITTLE CIRCUS SCHOOL
During the activities
proposed, the children will learn how to recognize and to use
different types of juggling instruments (short stilts, roli
polis, monocycle, acrobatic rope jumping). They will also get
to develop individual games, as well as those in pairs or in
groups. This could be an experience for beginners in this
field and a starting point for their formation, harmony or
creativity. We suggest parents do the town museum itinerary at
the special reduced price.

ADVENTURE ISLAND
Polvese Island, a place where
nature, culture and history all melt into one another,
represents the natural theatre for our fascinating journey
between past and present in search of the hidden treasure on
the island. The green fields, the old ilex grove, the immense
olive groves, the old castle, the monastery, the old harbours-
these are all part of our stage set for an unforgettable day
full of adventures. The organized activities will take place
around the castle, in the Garden of aquatic plants, in the
fields and in the structures provided by Aula Verde, and, if
the weather is bad, there are other rooms, facilities and work
spaces available.
Parents can also take part in our environmental tourist
proposals by visiting the Castle and Church of
S.Giuliano-Piscina Porcinai; and tour around the island by
canoe.

SCHEMES AND BATTLES IN THE
CASTLE
Palazzo della Corgna,
imposing residence of the Duke situated in the centre of the
historical town of Castiglione del Lago, was entirely frescoed
by Niccolò Circignani, called il Pomarancio, in the second
half of the XVI century. The frescoes tell the story of the
famous military ventures on behalf of Ascanio I° on a
carousel of fake tapestry which decorates the hall during
festivities and the story continues room after room, as was
typical in the renaissance period, with well known legends of
the Greek-Roman mythological traditions. You reach the Fort
from the Palace by walking through a very suggestive defence
wall path, another example of military architecture.
Commissioned by Frederick II of Svevia and designed by Friar
Elia Coppi from Cortona, the fortress covers the promontory
from where there is one of the most panoramic views of the
Trasimeno Lake. The childre, part of Captain Ascanio della
Corgna's army, will take part in resolving a mysterious
episode. The fascinating adventure of the court and
renaissance castles will be relived through theatrical games
and workshop activities. Parents may visit the town museum
itinerary free of charge.
